Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Little did the world know what a gift they would receive on January 4, 1960 when Vicki E Hoff (Erickson) was born. Vicki was born to Kennyth and Deloris Erickson (Moler). When Deloris passed away, Kennyth married Mina Erickson (Wing) who Vicki most affectionately adored and admired as her second mother. In 1981, Vicki married the love of her life, Jim Hoff. She just celebrated 36 years of marriage with him in May. Together, they have two children and three grandchildren.
Vicki had a variety of odd jobs, but made a career with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. She was a shy and quiet employee, but her work ethic was unmatched. Vicki was committed, dependable, and always put forth the extra effort to be a team player. She worked there for 29 years and enjoyed an early retirement in 2015.
Vicki’s life was tragically taken from us on Friday, June 23rd after a courageous battle with cancer. When she was diagnosed the end of November, she said something like “Cancer might beat me, but I’m going to win!” She fought with courage, bravery, stubbornness and determination. None of us knew how strong she was until we saw her take on this ferocious beast, and she fought it until her dying breath. While cancer did take her life, she won in the end. She is an inspiration to us all.
Vicki had a variety of hobbies. She was an incredible cook, enjoyed knitting and crocheting beautiful creations for those she loved, played the piano effortlessly, relished camping, fishing and spending time at the Gates of the Mountains. She was ruthless with board/card games and was by far the best at Wheel of Fortune. One of her favorite things to do was spoil her grandchildren.
Vicki loved like no other. Even in her final days, her concerns were to take care of everyone else. She spent her time serving others selflessly. Family, friends, neighbors, pets, soldiers, strays, cancer patients, any random cause that meant something to her, the doctors and nurses who helped her…. you name it, this woman loved generously. She always put others first.
Vicki was incredibly talented. There was no challenge too big and no precision work too small. Her work was done with perfection and was always crafted with love. But without dispute, the thing she was best at was being a mother and a wife. Her family adored her and is going to miss her terribly.
Vicki was preceded in death by her father Kennyth Erickson, her mother Deloris Erickson, and her sister Jane Hansen. She is survived by her husband Jim Hoff, her children Tanya (Brian) Johnson and Justin (Valerie) Hoff, grandchildren Brianna Hoff, Emily Skinner, Hunter Hoff, her second mother Mina Erickson, siblings Donna Erickson, Kennyth (fiancé Lisa) Erickson, Sue (Orris) Berg, Sandy (Mike) Carroll, Mike Wing, Dan (Cheri) Wing, Jim (Bon) Wing, and David (Jane) Wing along with several nieces and nephews. In addition, there are numerous others whom she informally adopted as her own.
Vicki’s memorial service will be held at Mountain Family Fellowship on (6145 N Montana Ave) on Saturday, July 8th at 11:00 am. If you wish to make a contribution, Vicki’s family suggests a cancer research center or a care package for a cancer patient in her name.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Thomas Weiner, Dr. Andrew Capino, the nurses, and all of the staff in the oncology department who took care of this woman we loved so much.
One of the greatest lessons Vicki gave us was to live each day like it was your last. Despite her diagnosis, she spent her days enjoying the things and people she loved. In honor of Vicki, her family requests that you grab a fishing pole and go down to the river and enjoy Montana’s backyard in her memory. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

I worked with Vicki at Gertie’s in high school. Loved her sense of humor! On St Patrick’s Day she dyed her hair green when nobody dyed their hair colors. It was so cool. She was cool. My condolences. Cathy Kaiser

Vicki was my dear, kind true friend as a child and as an adult. She was one my go to gal, as I hers. from her loving advice and life’s challenging words of wisdom to just my simple hair advice and mini makeover to make her feel beautiful for many many years. I will miss her often and love her always. All my love, thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends as they grieve such a blessing to us all.
